Sources & Licences
Every figure on R.A.R.e comes from one of the sources below. Each figure shows the period it covers. A refresh publishes only when every source answers, so a partial update never replaces a complete one.
U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics — Consumer Price Index
Used for: twelve-month price changes and index levels for food, clothing, shelter and energy, and average prices for a few staples.
- CPI-U, U.S. city average, not seasonally adjusted: food (CUUR0000SAF1), apparel (CUUR0000SAA), shelter (CUUR0000SAH1), energy (CUUR0000SA0E).
- Average prices: eggs, grade A large, per dozen (APU0000708111); electricity, per kWh (APU000072610).
- What it is not: an index level is not an amount anyone paid, and a national average is not a local price.
Updated: monthly by BLS. Licence: U.S. government work, public domain. bls.gov/cpi
Wikimedia — Wikipedia pageviews
Used for: how often people read selected English Wikipedia articles about each category, month by month, and which are read most.
- What it is not: reading about a topic is not searching for it, buying it or wanting it.
Updated: monthly and daily lists from Wikimedia. Terms: Wikimedia's published terms for its pageview data. Pageviews API
Wikimedia Commons — pictures
Used for: the lead picture of each topic's Wikipedia article.
Licence: each picture is shown with the licence and author Commons states for it. A picture without a stated licence is not shown. commons.wikimedia.org
OpenStreetMap
Used for: counts of gathering places — parks, libraries, cafes, restaurants, community centres, places of worship, social facilities and sports facilities — in an area around La Fayette, Georgia, queried through the Overpass API.
- What it is not: a count is what the map records, not how many people go there.
Updated: continuously by mappers; counted at each refresh. Licence: © OpenStreetMap contributors, Open Database Licence.
Editorial selection
The short list of places on the Connect page is chosen by Platten Industries. Nothing measured it, so it carries no rating or ranking.
The written brief
The short brief on the Trends and Connect pages is written by an AI model (Anthropic Claude) running under SPLAT, Platten Industries' governed agent runtime. The model is given only the published figures. Before the brief is published, every number in it is checked against the figures it cites; a brief with a number no cited figure supports is refused, and the page names the figures each brief rests on.
